Selforganizing and Nonlinear Sounds with Feedback Systems
Feedback is a rich phenomenon that can be found as a concept inside ecosystems, system theory, electronics and acoustics. Feedback systems are characterized by the their self- organizing nature, their tendency to stabilize and destabilize, organic randomness, chaotic behavior, and strong sensitivity to their inputs and relationships between it’s parts. Inside this workshops we apply the topologies of feedback systems, into the realm of sound synthesis and musical systems to explore the vast sonic and performative potential of this approach inside modular sound synthesis.
The workshop will give a brief overview of the history feedback and it’s appliance and will then dive into an hands on workshop on how to build a feedback network using modular synth moduls, mixers and effect pedals. The participants are then encouraged to explore the sonic textures and performative possibilities of feedback and how to incorporate the process inside their own musical practice.
